Formed in Durban in 1997, Tree63 is one of the most successful and beloved musical exports in South African music history. Led since inception by singer-songwriter and guitar player John Ellis, Tree63 first reached the top of the charts with massive hits including ‘Treasure’, ‘Stumbling Stone’ and ‘A Million Lights’, attracting the attention of US record label InPop Records.

Releasing their debut US album in 2000, number one US radio hits followed along with that year’s Dove award for Rock Album of the Year. The band followed up with 2002’s ‘The Life and Times of Absolute Truth’, yielding such hits as ‘Anxious Seat’ and ‘No Words’. 2003 saw the release of ‘The Answer to the Question’ which yielded Billboard’s #1 radio song for 2004, the band’s version of Matt Redman’s “Blessed Be Your Name”, as well as radio hits ‘King’ (an ASCAP Song of the Year for John in 2004) and ‘You Only’.

After two more albums, Tree63 disbanded when John moved back to South Africa from Nashville. The band reconvened briefly for 2015’s ‘Land’ album, which was CCM Magazine’s Album of the Year, and a subsequent tour of South Africa. A hiatus followed during which John released three more solo albums.

Between 1997 and 2015, Tree63 toured extensively, performing in the UK, the US, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Holland, Zimbabwe, Australia and New Zealand, and released seven studio albums.

In 2025 John Ellis brought Tree63 back to the live arena. With a stellar new lineup, Tree63 toured South Africa playing Tree63’s well-known songs, before the recording of a brand new album began late in the year.

Tree63’s first new single in a decade, “How Much Longer?” was released in November 2025 followed by second single “Voyage” in June 2026. The band’s brand new album, “Voyage”, the first Tree63 album recorded on South African soil since 2002’s “The Life and Times of Absolute Truth”, was released to great acclaim in July 2026. “Voyage” contains ten new songs produced by John Ellis and famed South African producer-engineer Dave Langemann.

ABOUT THE MORNING AFTER

The Morning After have been making music together on and off since 1998, before officially launching as TMA in 2008. The name was gifted to them by their earliest fans, who had a habit of partying a little too hard the night before. It stuck — and TMA have been living up to it ever since. Fronted by Dirk Klut, over 15 years and 150+ gigs a year later, The Morning After has earned its reputation as South Africa’s premier party function band. Their diverse repertoire of 500+ songs spans classic rock, ’50s and ’60s, ’80s and ’90s, pop, jazz, sokkie and the latest top 40 hits — and their ability to read a crowd and adapt on the fly is what keeps dance floors packed until the early hours, every single time.

Harry is a Cape Wine Master and former head of the Cape Wine Academy. Along the way he’s learnt that wine is never just fermented grape juice – it’s history, politics, environment, art and skill, all sitting in one glass. Through Harry’s Big Wine Adventure, he’s led more than 200 curated wine experiences for international guests and hosted countless private and corporate events. During the pandemic he started an incredible journey with Story Cellars, bringing people together online to meet winemakers when travel wasn’t possible. The stories proved that a good tale travels, even when people can’t.

The evening draws on all of it: a fun meander through the history of wine, from its earliest origins to today’s economics and changing consumer. Along the way you’ll meet the people, moments, numbers and stories that explain how South African wine became what it is today.
