A Night of Jazz Royalty and Rising Stars at café Roux

Mark your calendars for a spellbinding evening of jazz as some of South Africa’s most celebrated musicians take over the intimate stage at café Roux on Sunday, 31 May. This special one-night-only concert brings together a powerhouse lineup headlined by the formidable duo of Victor Masondo and Bheki Khoza. They will be joined by a stunning assembly of talent, including the legendary vocalist Fancy Galada, the amazingly talented pianist Brathew van Schalkwyk, great saxophonist Buddy Wells, and the young, sensational female drummer Chante Phillips. This ensemble is not just a collection of brilliant individuals; it is a tried and tested unit that delivered a standout performance at the last Cape Town International Jazz Festival. Following that great success, they are bringing their electric chemistry and refined sound to the scenic slopes of Noordhoek for what promises to be an unforgettable night.

Victor Masondo & Bheki Khoza: The backbone of the group, this duo is renowned for their deep musical synergy and contribution to the South African jazz landscape.

Fancy Galada (Vocals): A renowned South African singer, dancer, and performer from Langa, Cape Town, known for her powerful vocals and vibrant blend of township pop, jazz, and R&B. She has been active in the music industry since the 1980s, performing internationally with groups like Heshoo Beshoo and Amampondo.

Brathew van Schalkwyk (Piano): A true rising star from Cape Town. A virtuoso pianist who started playing at the age of seven, Brathew is a recent winner of the UNISA National Piano Competition and holds a BMus degree from UCT. His presence on the keys guarantees a masterful display of technique and emotion.

Buddy Wells (Saxophone): A giant of the local scene, Buddy’s saxophone is always a highlight, bringing raw power and lyrical beauty to every note.

Chante Phillips (Drums): The young sensational drummer driving the rhythm. As a rising force in the industry, Chante represents the exciting new wave of jazz talent in the country.

In fact, any seats booked under the same email address we will assume are together and arrange seating at one table.
