If you’ve dropped by café Roux lately, you will have seen a lot of small changes – changes that keep a restaurant fresh, alive & always improving.
We’ve upgraded the kiddies area with comfortable built-in wall seating & cushions, moved the coffee station to a more convenient and accessible hub on the outside corner of the building – and installed a new fireplace inside to keep you cosy through the winter months. To making your working life easier, we’ve installed multiple laptop charging stations around the resaurant and we have an exciting new member of the cafe Roux family – Vinnie has joined our management team – adding an energetic, super-friendly & open asset to café Roux!
We’ve now moved over to our new winter menu where you’re sure to find something that ticks your box. Warm winter oats with fresh banana or carb-free eggs Benedict for the early-rising healthy people out there and, we’re excited to say, the legendary Earl’s All Day Breakfast & Warm Beef Sandwich are back! If you’re looking for something on the smaller side for a light brunch/lunch, we’ve a range of toppings on a slice of bread/toast of your choice and, for the hungrier, a series of new wood-fired pizzas, a chicken Caesar salad, yummy soup, authentic Butter Chicken Curry & our much-loved Fish Curry back on the menu. Have you tried our new soft-serve ice-cream served with a range of naughty toppings? Or finish with our recently-acquired Bootlegger brand coffee @Roux!
STOP PRESS – most of the café Roux menu is now available for delivery by MrD in our area! So just download the MrD app (from the app store on your phone) and have your favourite café Roux dishes delivered to your door on those wet winter nights!

Talks @Roux
We’re excited to let you know that we will be staging a wide range of inspiring and interesting talks over the coming months. It’s been a tough 18 months for most of us and we need to come together, connect and find ways of inspiring each other. All proceeds of ticket money for these evenings will be donated to either Masicorp (a local organisation doing incredible work uplifting education in Masiphumelele) or a project of the speakers choice.

Tuesday 8th of June – Green Guerrilla Akim Riemer will be enlightening us on how to grow food at home without breaking the bank (and the law). All proceeds will be going to an Urban Farming Training Project he runs in Masi. Dinner from 6pm, talk and Q&A to start at 7:30pm.
Upcoming talks & films include: author & psychologist Megan de Beyer on the complex relationship between Mother & Son; “I am Thalente” – a film documenting the incredible story of a homeless street kid who went on to become a pro-skateboarder; Mary J Fourie – a financial wellness coach; Marine Conservation photographer Jean Tresfon; Great white shark expert Chris Fallows and “Why Parents are a Bad Idea” – a talk by David Foster on how best to overcome your history.
See you there!
