Lighting Productions proudly brings one special night of Southern-fried rock ‘n roll to the legendary café Roux with FREEBIRD – A Southern Rock Tribute!
Get ready for a night of heat, soul, swagger, and boogie as some of South Africa’s finest musicians pay homage to the giants of Southern Rock. Born in the late ’60s, musicians from the American South took the blues, soul, gospel, and roots music they grew up on and forged it into a powerful new sound filled with grit, groove, and attitude.
From the pioneering sounds of The Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd to the swagger of The Black Crowes, with a little detour into Texas boogie territory with ZZ Top, FREEBIRD takes audiences on a journey through the music that defined a generation. Expect weeping guitars, foot-stomping grooves, whiskey-soaked riffs, and singalong classics delivered with raw passion and Southern spirit.
Leading the charge is SAMA-nominated blues-rock powerhouse Basson Laubscher alongside a band of musical rebels: Daniel Louw on drums, Johan “Noddy” Willemse on bass, Roan Mutting on guitar, and Willem Wolmarans on vocals and guitar. Together they’ll bring the stage to life for a night of unforgettable rock ‘n roll energy.
