Contemporary delta blues and roots artist, storyteller, traveller. With a thick grey beard, long grey pony-tail and cowboy hat, Maclean looks like your typical foul-mouthed, gun-wielding cowboy straight out of 1800s America. His voice is thick and husky, like hard liquor and a thousand cigarettes, but his energy is gentle and genuine. MAclean has a particular appreciation for South African artists, “You can tell that they’re connected to a life of having and not having in a way that first world Western cultures are so far removed from. I’m really grateful that I am appreciated here, and I like it ‘cause the arts are cool,” he concludes.
