The Old Dogs Band – Album Launch.

“Cape Town troubadour Bill Knight has returned to recording with a couple of old dogs and some new tricks. Teaming up with the exemplary rhythm section of Jeremy Stephenson (bass) and the musically omnipresent Derek Craig on drums, Knight has released In Full Cry as The Old Dogs band.

The album, as one would expect from Bill, is coloured by contemporary events such as Covid and Trump but also pays more attention to love, both found and lost, than is usual in Knight’s work.

Encouraged no doubt by the presence of the excellent rhythm team, also uses his electric guitar more than he has done previously, with results that are very satisfying.

With the passing of time Knight, as with artists such as Cohen, Springsteen and Bowie, has lost none of his gift for language, nor his ability to express emotions in a manner which will engage the attention of the listener, even as he confronts “The darkness of my accumulating years”. The production quality on this album exceeds that of his previous releases, and with Stephenson and Craig on board there is plenty of life in The Old Dogs yet.”
