SonOfOld Brings Their Sonic Journey to Cape Town: One Night Only at café Roux!

Cape Town, get ready. SonOfOld, the brainchild of acclaimed South African singer-songwriter Nic Olsen, is set to deliver an unforgettable night of music at Café Roux in Noordhoek on Sunday, April 27th. This performance marks the Cape Town leg of their South African tour in support of their latest album, “Echoes from a Silent Hill” (2024), a record that has been captivating audiences and climbing the Austrian Indie charts for 11 weeks, peaking at number 2.

Currently based in Munich, Germany, Nic Olsen is returning to his home country to share his latest musical offering with South African audiences. Olsen is no stranger to the local music scene. As the former frontman of the early 2000s band Perez, he earned two South African Music Award nominations for “Best Rock Album” and delivered four chart-topping hits. His songwriting prowess also extended to penning tracks for indie-rock giants The Parlotones, including the platinum-certified anthem “Push Me to the Floor.”

For this special tour, Nic will be joined on stage by none other than his Perez counterpart and fellow lead singer and guitarist, Matt Wilkinson, adding an extra layer of nostalgia and energy to the performances. Together, they promise to deliver a show that blends the raw intensity of their Perez days with the refined artistry of SonOfOld’s latest work.

“Echoes from a Silent Hill” is a rich tapestry of introspective lyrics, blending alternative rock, folk influences, and atmospheric soundscapes. Produced by the renowned Theo Crous and featuring contributions from Foo Fighters’ keyboardist Rami Jaffee, the album is a sonic journey that bridges the past with the present, echoing influences from Beck, Jane’s Addiction, and Neil Young.
