“ME AND MR. CLAPTON” – A Tribute Show

Me and Mr. Clapton is a show that covers the career of one of the few artists to have a catalogue of music that stretches from the swinging 60’s up to the present day. From his early appearances in bands like John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Cream and Blind Faith, to extensive solo work, Eric Clapton has managed to mix the sounds of the blues, rock and pop music in a masterful manner. Songs range from the hard-rocking ‘Sunshine of your Love’ and ‘Layla’ to the laidback ‘Running on Faith’ and ‘Wonderful Tonight’, to the country-tinged ‘Alberta’. The band will also present tracks where Mr. Clapton collaborated with other artists: JJ Cale and the great bluesmen Robert Cray and B.B. King.

The production is presented by some of the finest musicians South Africa has to offer. Taking centre stage, acclaimed vocalist Mel Botes’ valve-driven electric guitar and virtuosic acoustic guitar playing is complemented by legendary keyboard player, Simon Orange’s piano and organ. They have performed together at venues all across the country and they’ll be joined by a solid rhythm section. So come on ‘down to the crossroads’ and enjoy the show!
