Ann Jangle & friends – live at café Roux!

Ann Jangle is an artist who truly embodies the spirit of dark folk and eclectic rock. Known for her powerful vocal performances and soulful songwriting, Ann has made a significant impact on the South African music scene. Her music often carries a theatrical and gypsy-infused style, which resonates deeply with audiences.

She began her journey with the release of her debut album ‘Acoustic Archive’ in 2012, which received substantial airplay and positive reviews across South Africa and Europe. Ann’s music is not just about sound but also about storytelling and connecting with people on an emotional level.

Her single ‘Rebel’ from her upcoming solo EP showcases her ability to write emotionally charged songs that speak to the challenges of modern relationships.

Moreover, Ann Jangle is not just a musician but also an adventurer and a humanitarian. She completed the African Dream Parade tour, cycling alone for several months through the African wilderness – from Cape Town to Kenya – covering thousands of kilometers to raise awareness for endangered wildlife and uplift communities through music.

Ann Jangle’s music and actions reflect her passion for life, music, and making a positive impact on the world. Her performances are not just concerts; they are experiences that leave a lasting impression.

Nish Pillay is a distinguished percussionist celebrated for his masterful tabla performances that seamlessly blend South African and Indian musical traditions, merging ancient knowledge with modern innovation and application. His dynamic artistry has graced stages alongside South African national treasure and icons like Steve Newman and has also seen him perform as a support act (with the Jack Mantis Band) for three-time Grammy Award winner Ben Harper. Nish’s ability to integrate traditional rhythms with contemporary sounds in innovative settings is a testament to his versatility and creativity.

With roots in South Africa and a musical journey that spans India and beyond, Nish brings unique depth and rhythm to every performance. His dedication to pushing musical boundaries results in experiences that captivate audiences on both emotional and spiritual levels.

Nish’s passion for sharing his expertise extends to collaborative projects that explore the profound holistic connections between music, culture, minimalism, mental health awareness, social justice, and spiritual consciousness. His performances highlight the transformative power of rhythm and melody to tell compelling stories, evoke deep emotions, and inspire both personal and collective change.

In collaboration with Prof Eugene Skeef, former right-hand man of Steve Biko, Nish is involved in projects aimed at the decolonization of the mind. Through the power of music and the arts, they work to address critical social justice and socio-economic issues, using music and poetry to spark dialogue, uplift communities, and encourage societal transformation.

Be prepared for an exceptional showcase of virtuosity and musical brilliance. This powerful collaboration promises an evening filled with soul enchanting vocal journeys and mind-blowing drumming!
